The Lean Manufacturing Co-op will work with a cross-functional team to implement lean operations at the Rockford, IL, campus. The CORE Co-op will support by completing time observations, data analysis, and project implementation throughout an assembly and test environment. They will support various continuous improvement projects that drive the Power & Controls operations team to improved efficiency and productivity. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run May/June to December; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past December 2024.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Learn about planning the sequence of operations and procedures, and documents manufacturing standard work and routings. 

  • Assist in planning the allocation of resources, materials, and personnel to establish maximum utilization of equipment. 

  • Support various continuous improvement projects through application of Lean tools and principles

  • May help in conducting studies pertaining to cost control, productivity improvement, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems. 

  • May assist facilities engineers (planning and design of facilities) and materials logistics specialists (packaging design).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
