Work Arrangement:

Hybrid: The position does not require an employee to be onsite full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility, or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

Role Summary

Working in a fast paced and dynamic environment, this role gives you an opportunity to experience a variety of areas within the Human Resources field.  You will be assisting the HR team with work related to Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), pension and benefit programs.  You will report directly to the Canada Benefits Operation Manager.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Develop and implement strategies for pension and benefit data cleanup – this project will require working with our Third Party Benefits Provider and GMCC. 
  • Lead and assist with the review, revision and possible redesign of  Benefit flyers, brochures, checklists and Benefits intranet for each of our plans including creation of self-help videos.
  • Research best practices for providing members with comprehensive information about their benefit plans and make recommendations for same.
  •  Support our Employee Wellness Program and report findings and recommendations to the team.
  • Monitor and process Wellness program claims and work with our vendor to ensure appropriate payment.
  • Work within Workday (HRIS)  system to run standard reporting and work with third party to review daily file concerns.
  • Support and assist in other benefit/pension related projects as required (an example of such project could be to analyze a specific current practice and make recommendations to improve that practice). Projects can be related to health care, wellness, insurance, workers compensation, pension and savings.
  • Working with our vendor, prepare and launch various audits to ensure only those eligible are enrolled in GM’s benefit programs.
  • Working with the various locations, coordinate/organize GM’s annual “Pension Road Show” event.

 

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor's (3rd or 4th year) or Master's degree in one of the following areas: Business, Human Resources or related field

  • Eligible to work full-time (40 hours per week) in Canada and for 12, or 16-month term (2-4 consecutive semesters) starting September 2024 at Oshawa/ Markham work location.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information. 

  • Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Highly adaptable and able to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Fundamental computer skills including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset.

  • Video editing skills considered an asset.
