Currently, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Freight and Customs Specialist. This role is responsible for managing freight and customs broker services across the organisation, supporting proactive planning of movements, resolving issues, and ensure compliance with regulatory and policy requirements.

This is a key role in our Supply Chain team requiring a person who is proactive with a can-do attitude. You are always looking to find solutions to the daily challenges. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all freight and distribution services, including shipping and customs brokerage services to ensure customer requirements are met,
  • Ensure required transport and shipping documents are available and completed,
  • Ensure correct freight implementation of transports and efficient routing to meet business, regulatory, and policy requirements.
  • Manage the freight / customs broker agreements and relationships to ensure effective performance to meet business objectives, including periodic performance reviews and reporting; developing and reporting against key metrics; effective record management; issue resolution; and regulatory compliance reporting and audit.
  • Analyse capacity and forecast demand for freight (both domestic and international), to recommend effective and efficient freight and customs solutions,
  • Manage freight and customs processes and tools, including standardised documentation.
  • Provide, and work with freight forwarders and customs brokers to provide, training, guidance, lessons learned, performance management and process improvements.

Skills Experience and Qualifications

  • Equivalent experience to, or, a Diploma in Supply Chain (Material Logistics, Freight), Contracting, Business, Commerce, Law, or Finance, or relevant technical background.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years prior relevant procurement and/or purchasing experience.
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision.
  • Advanced understanding and ability to determine customs parameters (HS, Tariff, AHECC, commercial invoice content, etc.) and associated freight and customs documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of INCOTERMS and optimum arrangements for given freight needs.
