Job Description

Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Burton, Michigan, three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business.]
 

The Role

A member of our Sustainable Workplaces Team, with a focus on facility mechanical and/or electrical expertise, you will support the workplace and facility systems in a wide range of facilities that GM has around the world. You will work with an industry leading team that designs, builds/constructs, and maintains facilities and building assets for vast operating functions. Doing so in a safe, compliant, cost-efficient manner that utilizes advanced technology to support social & ecological sustainability. We create the future and not just plan for it!

Collaboration with supplier partners to ensure services rendered reflect latest specifications and design guides.

  • Delivering High Quality Outcomes – Engineering high quality, sustainable systems and processes that sustain future business productivity in multiple types of business units. Ensures that the facility management team is positioned to succeed amid changing business trends.

  •   Innovation Management - Bringing the creative ideas of others to market; has good judgment about which creative ideas and suggestions will work; data review and lessons learned to understand future design needs; has a sense about managing the creative process of others; can facilitate effective brainstorming; can project how potential ideas may play out in the marketplace.

Additional Job Description

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or related field or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of facility experience with electrical engineering component

  • Experience managing mechanical or electrical scope for a variety of facility types and for major projects.

  • Experience with mechanical and/or electrical load/capacity studies across multiple shops and sites.

  • Ability to lead internal and external partners and bring innovation to the team.

  • Ability to organize data across multiple types of facilities and shops to make recommendations on future design.

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge

  • Master’s Degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or related field

  • Experience in process equipment and manufacturing equipment

  • Thorough understanding of GM’s electrical specifications and electrical design guides.

  • Experience with various types of GM facilities and processes
