We’re currently looking for a Door system Design Engineer to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.

This role will be responsible for design and development of sheet metal, glass, seals, plastic components and mechanisms (Regulator for side glass movement, locks, hinges, Handles etc.) for new and/or current model programs plus continuous improvement by increasing design robustness or through warranty reduction of existing models.

Job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Daily use of NX CAD to study and make design, present proposals and release the new or improved designs
  • Warranty reduction using root cause analysis techniques
  • Variation and tolerance analysis at both component and system level
  • Make presentations of ideas and studies to upper management
  • Manage suppliers to develop parts, meet cost, timing and quality targets
  • Manage cost and weight of assigned parts to meet or exceed targets

Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Firm understanding of automotive technology and engineering practices, with a hands-on background in the automotive industry.
  • Minimum of 1 year professional-level experience in related engineering discipline.
  • Up to 10-20% travel may be required both domestic and international
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary to complete job
  • Prior use of NX CAD system (Highly preferred)
  • Strong ability to visualize part or system and work in a totally digital environment through the development cycle until physical phase.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Strong presentation skills
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T
  • Ability to manage multiple issues and tasks
