Job Summary:
Pratt and Whitney (P&W) is currently seeking a knowledgeable Engineer to join the NGPF Customer Technical Service Department's team of highly skilled Engineers in East Hartford, CT. The focus of this team is to manage and resolve technical issues for PW1100G-JM hardware in order to ensure engine safety and to maintain competitive advantage relative to operational parameters such as Delays and Cancellations (D&C’s), In-Flight-Shut-Down (IFSD) rate, reduction of operator maintenance burden, etc.
- The successful candidate will coordinate closely with various P&W engineering groups, PW Customer Programs & PW field offices to support technical issues and monitor our growing fleet of Airbus A320/21 NEO aircraft powered by the PW1100G-JM engines this position resides in the Troubleshooting Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working directly with airlines world-wide to help them resolve technical issues relative to the operation and performance of the PW1100G-JM engine.
- Working closely with field offices, customer support, engineering, and performance to support investigations and/or questions from the field.
- Analyzing PW1100G-JM operational events to determine root cause through usage of Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) data, fault messages and fault codes along with airframe generated reports such as the Post Flight Report (PFR) and various Gas Path Advisory (GPA) reports.
- Providing troubleshooting advice to airlines around the world through usage of the PW1100G-JM Troubleshooting Manual (TSM) and the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and provide technical material and/or on-site support for regional forums and conferences.
- Monitoring the fleet to identify potential emerging issues relating to engine control and the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) to escalate to management accordingly.
- Ensuring prompt investigation closure for engine operational events. Provide closure reports to the customer, airframer and authorities in a timely manner when required.
- Identifying and incorporating improvements to the TSM based on lessons learned and customer feedback.
- Supporting on-time delivery of key metrics for EagleNet case closures, In-Service Reportable Occurrences (ISRO’s) reports and event investigation reports.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 5+ years of Engineering experience, or 3+ years with an advanced degree
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
- May have practical knowledge of project management.
- Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs, or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
- Field experience in airline or aircraft engine maintenance.
