Corporate Communications Section Manager

Department Background:
The Communications function is responsible for creating and leading external and internal communications for the AMIEO region. Nissan aims to become a truly sustainable company, driving towards a cleaner, safer and more inclusive world. Ambition2030, Nissan’s long-term vision, sets out to deliver electrified models and technological innovation in key markets globally, empowering mobility and beyond. As such, the role of corporate communication is to support the AMIEO region delivering messages aligned with the vision.

Mission and main objectives:

The role sits at the heart of Nissan’s corporate communications team in the AMIEO region, helping to define and execute our storytelling agenda across all markets and functions.

You will be communicating what Nissan stands for and delivers for its customers and communities in the region, as well as our vision for future mobility. This will bring together elements from Nissan Ambition 2030, corporate purpose, brand promise and long-term investments in our key operational sites.

Sustainability will be a major pillar across much of these activities. With exciting plans in key business areas including electrification, carbon neutrality and DEI, Sustainability will be at the heart of Nissan’s future plans across AMIEO, and the stories we tell.

As well as delivering those messages through Corporate Communications activities, you will work closely with the Product and Internal Communications teams to source stories and deliver them to a modern, digital audience across multiple platforms.

In Executive Communications, you will identify and manage external speaking opportunities, along with targeted executive messaging through first-person articles in the mainstream media or through their social media accounts.

You will also manage the Nissan brand account on LinkedIn for the AMIEO region, coordinating content from across the team, and define and execute our strategy for the Nissan Stories channel across multiple markets and languages.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead Nissan’s positive corporate storytelling in the AMIEO region, working with colleagues throughout the region to ensure our stories are being told consistently in the right way, to the right people.
  • Identify and execute corporate story opportunities in partnership with the product communications team and major markets, including business performance updates.
  • Find, produce and deliver positive corporate stories from the Nissan AMIEO business, including content for the Nissan Stories website.
  • Manage the Nissan AMIEO LinkedIn account, oversee executive posts and identify and execute external speaking opportunities, as well as media and presentation training for those executives and, supporting internal executive messaging when needed.
  • Maintain the Nissan Newsroom website and ensure information including models, photos, executive biographies etc are up to date.
  • You will be supported by, and line manage, the Corporate Communications coordinator based in the NAE office.

Education:
Master's degree in one or more of the following areas: Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing and Communication

Experience:

  • The candidate will be a storyteller by trade, with a proven track record in journalism and/or public relations.
  • They will have extensive experience (minimum 6-8 years) in media relations, managing journalists and explaining complex stories in simple, engaging ways to traditional and digital audiences.
  • Communications expert-level written and verbal English communications skills are required, including speech writing.
  • They will have experience in a senior role, including managing communications activities for senior executives, and article and presentation preparation for those executives.
  • Ability to travel when necessary.
