Job Summary:
The Quality & Process Engineering (Q&PE) organization which includes P&W Advanced Metrology is responsible for working closely with our internal and external producers and providing process approvals, surveillance, and production support. P&W Quality and Process Engineering (Q&PE) organization is looking for a self-motivated individual to join our Advanced Metrology group to support improvement activities, application development, introduction of inspection technologies, and to become a subject matter expert to develop standard methods and support other company functional groups in areas related to measurement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve quality by deployment of new inspection technologies and application of automation to existing operations.
- Work with Operations Manufacturing and Quality and the Advanced Metrology team to execute the specification and purchase of automated measurement systems and their introduction into Production.
- Develop and document standard methods for inspection equipment and measurement processes. Actively evaluate and benchmark measurement technologies including multi-sensor CMMs, non-contact inspection systems, advanced sensors and gaging methods.
- CMM programming experience utilizing a mix of the CMM software packages: MODUS, CAMIO, CALYPSO, PC-DMIS, MCOSMOS. Support CMM programming needs in the module centers, provide expertise and standard work development.
- Review Gage Suitability packages for compliance to PW requirements and best practices. Participate as a resource for investigations to assist various customers in Engineering, Quality, and the supply base to resolve quality and product delivery problems.
- Additional assignments working with Advanced Metrology and associated Metrology Fellow and Metrology Discipline Chief
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 yrs. prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Metrology concentration preferred. Strong knowledge of GD&T, drawing interpretation, and implementation of measuring systems.
- Programming: Python, C++, VB.Net, etc.
- Integration of automated systems. Familiarity with REVO multi-sensor technology.
- Experience with structured light scanners and analysis software such as GOM, POLYWORKS or GEOMAGIC.
- Expert knowledge of GD&T and Y14.5, familiarity with Airfoil geometry. Strong analytical skills. Understand Design of Experiments, MSA, SPC, and Gage R&R.
- Aerospace experience in Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality. Jet engine component processing.
- Calibration systems. Layout Inspection experience.
