RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in welding of all RSADF systems. Performs other related duties as required or directed by the section officer that is covered under the currently approved TAA.
Typical duties involve the following:
- Provides technical advice to the Director (administration/department).
- Participates in the repair of welded parts/assemblies for RSADF systems that are covered under the currently approved TAA.
- Provide welding advice to the (directorate/section) manager.
- Participates in preventive maintenance measures for all maintenance levels.
- Collaborate with team for repair, test and checkout of launchers or other equipment requiring welding.
- Maintain all welding tools and misc. assigned tools in the depot to perform job task.
- Knowledge of proper shop ventilation required to perform welding and knowledge of how to keep the weld area (walls and floors) protected from sparks and hot metal.
- In depth understanding of reading drawings, blueprints and understanding welding symbols, as well as taking measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Determining the appropriate welding equipment, process and/or method based on requirements. Setting up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws and/or gas apparatus to match measurements).
- Operate grinders with abrasives, wire brushes, and/or carbides to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
- Visually inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws and repair them.
- Apply any needed approved welding changes.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety, Adhere to applicable RSADF safety policies, procedures, and standards. Must wear protective helmets, respirators, gloves, and clothing as necessary for safety.
- Participates in opening and closing work orders and on-the-job training (OJT) orders.
- Perform other related duties as required by the section officer.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical diploma or equivalent
REQUIRED EXPERIENCES:
- Ability to read and follow, drawings, welding procedures and or welding work instruction.
- Demonstrate the ability to pass a physical hands-on welding test for qualification purposes to the American Welding Society (AWS) Specifications.
- Experience in using electrical or manual tools (grinders, saws, squares, calipers, tape measure, etc.)
- Proficiency in English language both spoken and written.
