Vulnerability Researcher
 
The Role
The role primarily consists of vulnerability research, reverse engineering and ethical hacking against a variety of technologies.

This role forms part of Raytheon’s Cyber Research Group, which consists of highly skilled researchers that solve deeply technical and niche cyber problems. The team is growing fast with a range of clients, so this is a fantastic time to join us to help shape our strategy and influence the work we go after.

Candidates will ideally have a curious mindset, enjoy problem solving and have a history of taking things apart to understand how they work.
 
Strong candidates will also have a variety of low-level software experience and prior experience in identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a track record of finding vulnerabilities in modern systems.
 

Candidates will ideally have experience or understanding in several of the following areas:

  • Computer architecture (e.g. x86, x64, ARM, MIPS)
  • C or C++
  • Reading or writing assembly
  • Developing or breaking embedded systems
  • Network protocols
  • Reverse engineering (e.g. IDA Pro, Ghidra)
  • Debuggers such as GDB, WinDbg or OllyDbg
  • Using or developing fuzzers
  • OS internals (any major OS)
  • Exploit mitigations such as DEP and ASLR
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Hardware hacking
  • Software-defined radio (SDR)
