Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney (PW) Customer Technical Services (CTS) seeks a detail-focused individual to join the Troubleshooting, Components and Systems (TCAS) team in support of the V2500 commercial jet engine. We are focused on providing technical solutions for issues that are brought to our attention from over 150 operators of the engine around the world.  Operational events are investigated and troubleshooting recommendations are provided to keep the V2500 engine flying as safely and reliable as possible.

  • The V2500 engine has been in service for nearly 35 years with the accumulation of over 270 million flight hours of operations.
  • The program continues to need and attract talented engineers to solve challenging technical issues as this engine will be in service for decades to come.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer technical queries provided from PW field representatives and the Global Operation Center (GOC) to address routine and urgent issues associated with the operation, maintenance, and performance of the V2500 engine. This includes providing troubleshooting advice to alleviate Aircraft on Ground (AOG) issues on an urgent basis which may require support on a 24/7 basis.
  • Carry out investigations into V2500 operational events to determine root causes and most likely failure modes.  Reporting results to the FAA and Airbus may be needed depending upon the consequences and severity of the event.
  • Analyze Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) data (the “black box” data) recorded from the V2500 engine to assess its behavior and performance in the field.
  • Interpret data reports from airframe computers in conjunction with fault messages and acronyms triggered by the EEC150 Electronic Engine Control (EEC) as needed.
  • Author changes to the V2500 engine manuals. These include the Troubleshooting Manual, the Aircraft Maintenance Manual, and the engine repair shop engine manual.
  • Meet performance metrics for the on-time delivery of Eagle Net case responses, AOG resolutions, field investigations and written reports as required by the PW Engineering organization, Airbus, and the FAA.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology)
  • 8+ years of Engineering experience, or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.

  • Travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A basic understanding of the operation of high bypass turbofan jet engines.
  • Knowledge of PW jet engine EEC software, along with closed loop system control is a plus.
  • Familiarity with aircraft jet engine line maintenance and engine overhaul practices.
  • Experience with writing maintenance and/or troubleshooting procedures.
  • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant Mechanic experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and technical writing skills and proficiency in MS Office.
