Job Summary:

Radar Systems Field Engineering will be staffing a THAAD Team Lead in support of the Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) Program. 

The CLS Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system Team Lead will be directly responsible for leading a team of 4-5 Field Engineers whose focus is ensuring that the TPY-2 radar system is fully functional 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. This includes all states and modes of preventative & corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the radar. The THAAD Team Lead will monitor radar diagnostics for any radar system anomalies and develops and delivers advanced training to site personnel for maintenance activities as required.

The CLS THAAD Team Lead will review all ALCS program data to ensure that all required data has been entered to include ITR’s, calibration records, PMCS, and other areas as required and contains sufficient information for failure review board evaluations. The THAAD Team Lead will schedule and plan for installation of change notices interfacing as needed with engineering and site personnel to ensure success. The THAAD Team Lead will maintain all PMCS schedules and ensure all tasks are completed and documented properly and will ensure that all JO’s/ITR’s are updated. The Team Lead will evaluate the adequacy and technical content of the Technical Manuals, Operating Instructions Procedures and Work Packages and suggest modifications as appropriate using LIR process.

This position will remain in an unaccompanied deployable status. The selected candidate must understand that they are willing and able to travel for related work assignments to include deployment to work locations at various sites both nationally and internationally, sometimes at a moment’s notice.

This position will be located at either Ft Bliss or Fort Cavazos, Texas and may require deployment to an offsite or foreign location with an immediate response time.

If assigned to a deploying asset, the selected candidate must meet all required medical expectations as defined by the customer prior to and after deployment to assignment and ensure their assigned team maintains a deployment readiness mindset as well.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Supervise system performance using maintenance of system diagnostics software.
  • Monitors diagnostics to evaluate the functionality of the radar and its components.
  • Restores system to mission capability by performing corrective action procedures.
  • Maintains accurate Activity Log Reports and Inspection Test Record (ITRs).
  • Reviews all radar operation and maintenance activities and provides recommendations to Raytheon Program Manager for improvements.
  • Operates and supervises the ALCS program to ensure all data is entered properly.
  • Performs independent assessments, audits, and special inspections of site activities associated with the radar system as directed by the Program Manager.
  • Ensures the maintenance of system configuration management through proper entries in ALCS.
  • Monitors radar diagnostics for any radar system anomalies (e.g., Receiver/Exciter (REX), Beam Steering Generator (BSG) BSG, Antenna/Sub-Array/ TRIMMs).
  • Schedules and plans for installation of Change Notifications (CNs).

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least five years’ experience in the troubleshooting and operational checkout of TPY-2 systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced TPY-2 Hardware maintenance and fielding experience.
  • B.S. in Engineering, Science or Mathematics, and/or equivalent field experience commensurate to experience described above.
  • Experience in the planning, production, and management of complex systems.
  • Experience in leading a team including members from engineering, operations, integrated supply chain, and/or quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence and collaboration.
  • International assignment experience.
