Job Summary:
Radar Systems Field Engineering will be staffing a Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) AN/TPY-2 Power Technician to sustain and maintain the Prime Power Unit (PPU) in support of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) KSA Production contract.
Prior to deployment, the PPU Power Technician will be assigned to a THAAD Radar team at El Paso, TX and support Integration and Acceptance Testing, through completion at DD250 at WSMR, NM. The Power Technician will support all PPU maintenance efforts needed to complete a successful System Integration & Checkout (SICO) concluding with support of Radar shipment to KSA. The PPU Power Technician will be expected to complete all training and certifications required of the position to include obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Once deployed, the PPU Power Technician will support a Radar team consisting of three Field Engineers assigned to the radar system. The PPU Power Technician will be expected to execute load-bank hook-up and operations and perform scheduled organizational level operations and maintenance. The PPU Power Technician is expected to perform maintenance inspections and repairs, to include parts ordering in accordance with applicable technical manuals and procedures. The PPU Power Technician must also complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and refurbishment activities.
Desired candidates will be a graduate of a technical school, or manufacturer’s course of instruction on diesel power generation equipment, or equivalent on-the job training or work experience in trouble shooting, fault isolation, disassembly, repair, and checkout power generation equipment.
OR would have completed US Army Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) specific training in the following MOS: 12P Prime Power Production Specialist, 52B Power Generation Equipment Operator/Mechanic, 52D Power Generation Equipment Repairman.
Basic Qualifications:
- ACTIVE SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED and will require a US Expat to forward deploy to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) under the terms of a Short-Term International Assignment Memorandum of Understanding (STMOU).
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with electro-mechanical troubleshooting, fault isolation, and repair of 15, 30, or 150kW (remove) diesel powered power generation equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to test generators safely in diverse conditions. Must be familiar with medium voltage. (4160).
- Functionally test generators after making repairs to assure compliance with design specifications and standards. Must be able to create test procedures to test functionality for the repair that was accomplished.
- Willing to learn new systems and share knowledge with larger audience.
- Individual must possess mechanical skills including experience with the use of common hand and powered tools, fixtures, templates, and associated refurbishment and modification equipment.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills for record keeping and parts requisition.
- Experience in the planning, production, and management of complex systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with diesel powered generators.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of the diesel generator maintenance, refurbishment, modification, and system integration process.
- Demonstrated ability to read and apply Technical Manuals and associated drawings, schematics, and publications.
