Job Summary:
Pratt and Whitney Military Engines Engine Design & Systems Integration (EDSI) is looking for a Systems Engineer - Weapon System Integration with the drive to support and innovate a next generation military propulsion program as we develop a new paradigm for data management via Digital Transformation. This position represents an exciting opportunity to innovate, fundamentally improving P&W’s engineering and integration processes.
Working closely with the Weapon System Integration (WSI) Lead, you will actively participate in integration activities with the weapon system contractor for an Advanced Military Engine. Using Agile project management concepts, you will work with the airframe contractor to meet engine and airframe technical requirements, while meeting program schedule requirements for contract deliverables and major milestones. This position requires significant internal integration with Module Center Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs) to define and mature engine-to-airframe interfaces. You will be responsible for all aspects of sub-system integration between the engine and airframe where problems are complex and require extensive investigation and analysis. You will analyze requirements, lead trade studies, and establish engine-airframe interface compatibility to ensure the best technical solution is achieved that meets engine and airframe requirements.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable negotiating with internal and external customers in support of technical solutions that enable a competitive P&W engine. This position requires the ability to conduct briefings to P&W program and senior leadership, as well as to our Customer, regarding ICM progress and interface status.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, develop, and mature all physical and functional engine-to-airframe interfaces based on the program milestone plan
- Work closely with airframers and internal CIPTs to negotiate interface compatibility that meets requirements
- Organize, write, and track Engineering Coordination Memos used to request data, clarify P&W’s intent, and provide data requested by airframers
- Utilize Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools, including SysML via Cameo Systems Modeler to develop the ICM
- Actively participate in Agile project management
- Prepare and present technical presentations to internal and external customers
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 8+ years of relevant industry experience or a Master's degree and 5+ years of relevant industry experience
- 3+ years of engine-airframe integration or systems engineering experience and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools, including SysML via Cameo Systems Modeler to enable continued development of the Digital ICM.
- Proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools including NX/Unigraphics to define and manage the physical aspects of engine-airframe interfaces.
- 3+ years with Agile project management. The program has demonstrated success with Agile, and you will be required to actively participate in the process.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
