This is a 2nd shift position.
Summary:
The Systems Engineer is responsible for helping establish a formal system within the Pratt & Whitney manufacturing site located in Asheville, NC to deliver measurable manufacturing results through formal strategy formulation and execution of robotics and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support new product development automation needs. Installation, configuration, deployment, update and maintenance of Automation Network and Network equipment. Support backup, recovery, and archive processes of Automation Network. Create and maintain engineering documentation of Automation Network. Monitor, Analyze and Troubleshoot Automation Network performance. Contribute to develop and execute manufacturing methods and identify optimization opportunities.
- Help establish/enforce site standards and specifications of controls, robotics, and automation. Cyber security firewall deployment and management.
- Edge computing deployment and management. Ignition application & SQL database deployment and management. Software Defined Networking (SDN) deployment and management.
- Embedded Device Operating (OS) system management. Facilities management. Hardwired components design and debug.
- Standard engineering procedures and documentation. Applying expertise to technical problem resolution. The ability to be given direction and work independently while meeting timelines.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience and 5+ years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years' experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Databases and Scripting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Non-Industrial programming (C++, Java, Python, Fortran, etc…). Admin level experience working with IT Networks in the areas of configuration, monitoring, analysis, and testing.
- Experience with version control processes and tools in the areas of software, hardware, and documentation.
- AutoCAD, Studio 5000 Logix designer, RS Networks and MS Office Suite. Strong communication, collaboration and team building skills; ability to connect with all levels of the organization.
- Some experience with controls hardware design utilizing components and architectures. Experience troubleshooting different component manufactures and applications.
- Experience with evaluation and implementation of controls standards. Experience with system software / PLC code development, HMI screen development.
