The Airborne & Space Surveillance RF Sensors department has an exciting opportunity for a System Engineering Radar System Integration Lab (RSIL) Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL).  The RSIL IPTL will have a technical role on at least one program (~75%) in addition to providing team leadership to a group of 10-15 System engineers (~25%) to plan and complete program assignments in the RSIL.  The IPTL provides technical team leadership throughout the product lifecycle, including hardware and software design, development, integration, and test (I&T), and requirements verification using the Integrated Product Development System (IPDS) or Stages process.

The RSIL IPTL will establish a lab schedule and deconflict program needs in the shared spaces.  The IPTL will also support proposal activities to identify and estimate hours for upcoming tasks and will interface with the lab manager to ensure test equipment is calibrated, available, and ready for operation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for day-to-day operation of the multi-disciplinary/ cross-functional team, ensuring the associated products are developed and delivered within allotted cost, schedule, technical quality, and performance parameters.

Work with the Program Manager (PM), Lead System Engineer (LSE), and Chief Engineer (CE) to establish program organization, schedule (IMS) and milestones, Planning Packages, Program Management Reports, and Performance Management Baselines.

Generation of specification documents, such as Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and Verification/Test Reports.

Document requirement verification using the Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS).

Spearhead development of test cases and test scenarios, capture in test plans and test procedures, lead requirement verification, troubleshooting, and compliance reporting.

Lead early identification, communication, and mitigation of technical, cost and/or schedule risks for all aspects of the RSIL verification scope.

Support Configuration Control Board (CCB), Engineering Review Board (ERB), Failure Review Board (FRB), Risk and Opportunity Review Boards.

Earned Value Management System (EVMS) as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) to provide cost and schedule estimates/impacts for proposed engineering changes or Basis of Estimates (BOEs), preparing Estimate at Completion (EAC) plans, managing the Schedule Performance Index (SPI) and Cost Performance Index (CPI), as required.

Mentor the early career engineers and review their work for quality.

Clearance Requirement: 

  • Must have an existing Active Secret
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required.  This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance on day one of employment.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years of full lifecycle Systems Engineering Radar experience
  • Experience in systems engineering functions including Technical Performance Metrics (TPMs), operations concept development, requirements management, technical risk management, interface definition and control.
  • Understanding of Airborne Radar system operation, modes, design, development, I&T, requirements verification, repair, and sustainment
  • Knowledge of Radar modes and collection methodology, with corresponding artifacts influencing Radar products.
  • Engineering analytical and technical writing skills, verbal communication skills for engagement with program management, technical team members, customers and/or subcontractors
  • Present test data and explain results to management and customers.
  • Budgets and schedules.
  • EVMS and program management tools.
  • Negotiation skills, and decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with execution of technical reviews (SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TRRs) and tailoring process in preparation for Independent Reviews (IRs) prior to Gates.

Desired Skills: 

  • Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V) Lead or Technical Lead
  • Conduct analysis to predict system performance, error margins, & performance budgets
  • Flight test experience; flight data analysis
  • Knowledge of Special Test Equipment (STE) design, testing, & operation
  • Background in signal processing, modeling, & simulation
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools (Cameo & Rhapsody), Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS), DOORS, Agile, DevOps, scrum, software & languages (MATLAB, SysML, Python, Bash, C++, Java)

Education & Experience Requirements

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electrical, Physics, Aerospace, Mathematics, or related STEM discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience – OR Advanced Degree in Engineering, Physics, Technology, Mathematics, or related STEM discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience.

The salary range for this role is 123,000 USD - 259,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
