This is a position in the Supplier Design Equipment group as a Project Engineer.  There will be interaction with other engineering discipline groups as well as external suppliers and aerospace customers.  The emphasis will be on qualification testing of equipment that Collins Aerospace purchases from suppliers as well as customer requirement compliance and configuration management. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines.

  • Liaison between project management and planning, project teams, and line management.

  • Own development, validation, incorporation, and field investigations for mechanical components in your portfolio.

  • Ensure that technical requirements are correctly flowed to the Supplier.

  • Monitors and assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.  

  • Participates in engineering activities that further success of overall project objectives. 

  • Participates in the coordination, preparation and maintenance of project plans, budgets, and staffing requirements to ensure that all action item lists are completed, and project quality expectations are met.

  • Ensure that the product testing is correctly documented, performed, and approved, and that it provides complete verification of requirements.

  • Ensure Supplier processes are documented and meet acceptable standards and ensure proper design reviews are conducted. 

  • Engage appropriate technical expertise from within Collins to cover areas outside of their engineering background or experience.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Project Engineering or Project Management preferred.

  • Experience with Collins tools, design, and qualification processes.

  • Experience working across a highly matrixed organization, including team members, suppliers, and customers.
