The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Enterprise Services, Research Center or BBN team:
The Chemical Sciences Discipline at RTX Research Center has an open position for an intern to work in our Electrochemical Systems team. The position will involve playing an active role on a dynamic interdisciplinary team that develops and scales electrochemical energy storage and conversion technologies.
The Electrochemical Engineer Intern will be part of a team responsible for building, testing, and analyzing sub-scale and full-format flow battery and fuel cell components and systems. The team is integral to many innovative sustainability and electrification research projects at RTX Research Center. In addition to working with various business units of RTX, such as Collins Aerospace, the team collaborates with leading electrochemical experts in universities, national laboratories, and electrochemical start-up companies.
The preferred candidate will be capable of excelling as an individual contributor as well as in a team environment. Experience will be gained in a fast-paced hands-on laboratory environment under the direct oversight of highly skilled practitioners in the field. Additional experience can be gained in electrochemical modeling.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Familiarity with programming potentiostat, battery cycler, and frequency response analyzer software.
- Analyzing performance datasets extending up to months in duration
- Handling chemicals and hardware
- Experience working with membrane electrode assemblies
Required Qualifications:
- Previous exposure to general laboratory protocols related to fuel cell and flow battery hardware.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with management, team members and researchers
- Self-starter with willingness to take initiative, contribute to results and take ownership of assigned projects/initiatives
- High degree of enthusiasm for technology and an ability to learn quickly
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, team environment or independently with limited direction
Education:
Candidates must be currently pursuing a Master's or Doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or another relevant Engineering discipline. A minimum 3.40 GPA is required. Please submit a copy of your academic transcripts with your application.
