Job Summary:

The Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering (ASE) organization is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of Commercial Engines Major Rotating Parts Structures Manager. This role is a challenging and visible leadership position for the right individual and provides an excellent opportunity to directly contribute to the success of P&W and ASE while delivering repairs for our commercial engine customers. The successful candidate will be a goal oriented and focused team leader. This role will include leading Structures Engineers as direct reports and will require someone who is good at communicating, mentoring, coordinating multiple tasks, and providing leadership for the team.  The selected individual will work closely with the Major Rotating Parts Structures Discipline Associate Director to develop and implement best practices across the team while providing overall leadership to ensure repair deliveries are completed with highest quality and on schedule to support our customer commitments.  The ASE Structures organization strongly values coaching and mentoring of all engineers, regardless of individual’s experience. This role also has an active role in the development of others as well as themselves. Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder .Travel for this role is up to 10%.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Major Rotating Parts Structures Discipline Associate Director in developing a fully capable, highly proficient structures engineering team and meet program demands.

  • Sets objectives and guides others on execution/approach for repair structural analysis.

  • Identifies and reacts to project problems, allocates resources, communicates on the status of the work and policies, practices, and procedures to those within and outside of the structures discipline.

  • Works collaboratively with repair IPTs and supporting teams to solve complex, technical issues.

  • Manages a team primarily of intermediate and newer hire structures engineers.

  • Focus on discipline capability and training requirements for the team.

  • Lead advancement of the structures discipline, and continuous improvement of structures analytical tools and process/procedures.

  • Focus on results and the ability to drive tasks to completion.

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working across functions, organizations, and all levels of management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering and 8+ years of experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering or an Advanced Engineering Degree and 5+ years of experience. 

  • U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a consistent record of collaboration, innovation, and initiative.

  • Eager to learn new things, contribute a fresh perspective, and share knowledge with others.

  • Demonstration and active development of a strong leadership capability.

  • A passion for mentorship and professional development of others.

  • Prior industry experience working on Commercial Engines Programs and Repair Development of Aerospace Hardware, with preference to major rotating parts. 

  • Knowledge of Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS). 

  • Experience as structures engineer on aerospace hardware. 

  • Working knowledge and application of CORE principles to improve team effectiveness and efficiency.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
