Pratt & Whitney’s North Berwick Engineering Center (NBEC) is seeking a talented Structures Engineer II to conduct structures analysis on existing and next generation of commercial and military cold section stator and case components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide analytical support for the preliminary design phase through detailed design, development testing, certification by regulatory authorities or government customers, transition to production manufacturing and repair limit definition.
  • Perform state-of-the-art ANSYS finite element analysis for stress, vibration, mission low cycle fatigue life, residual life (fracture mechanics) prediction, and optimization; stress testing and data reduction; production and in-service field investigations. Participate as an active member in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, and weight requirements.
  • Seek and incorporate advances in technology and improvements in processes on an individual and team basis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or in a related field and 2+ years prior relevant engineering experience in FEA, and use of ANSYS and or NX Advanced Sim.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace experience.
  • Master degree in a related field with research experience in FEA, and use of ANSYS and or NX Advanced Sim.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to write clear documentation, as well as to create and provide impactful, persuasive presentations to management and customers.
  • Significant interaction with internal and external customers.

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
