This position is for an experienced Systems Engineering professional.  Join the Mission Systems Airborne and Ground Communication Products Department and help shape, define, and design communication solutions that connect militaries around the world!  As a Systems Engineer, you will design and develop military software-defined radio products covering all spectrum bands. You will play an integral role in developing the next generation of both networking and non-networking software defined radio waveforms for existing and new communication platforms. We are looking for Systems Engineers who are interested in experiencing all elements of the communication design process including system-level trades, requirements development, communication system architecture and design, performance assessment, integration and test, verification, validation and support of fielded products. Successful candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, team-based, and challenging technical environment where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Performs analysis, architecture and design at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. 
  • Provides direct customer support for installation and integration of radio products deployed on airborne and ground-based platforms around the world. 
  • Acts as the direct interface to capture customer requirements and operational concepts to be translated into a system architecture and design 
  • Performs functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. 
  • Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and develops verification criteria and plans for the requirements 
  • Researches and evaluates investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization’s systems products and services. 
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total system solutions.  

Basic Qualifications:

  • ​​Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR  

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR  

  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required  

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.  Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies as well as the scrum master and product owner roles. 
  • Experience with the execution of integration, verification and validation phases of a product. 
  • Experience with communicating between program stakeholders. 
  • Experience with tools such as DOORS, MATLAB, C++, and Python
