Job Summary:
The selected candidate will support the Asheville site by serving as a focal point for the material control lab (MCL) and Quality Process and Engineering team (QP&E) that works with Engineering, Procurement, and other functional disciplines to drive the quality signature in support of product delivery for critical high precision engine components. This position requires innovative approaches to problem solving, the ability to develop timely action plans for resolution while executing and driving the tactical execution of the quality management system . Requires quality system knowledge, familiarity with SAP System transactions, and the ability to query data from SAP and Solumina database systems. This position will require the selected candidate to work within team environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving the organization multi-functionally to meet customer requirements for quality, cost, and delivery; work with functional leaders, and internal staff to meet production requirements and assure the cells operate in a productive fashion consistent with changing business needs.
- Lead and manage a diverse team of hourly and salary employees responsible for all aspects of the MCL lab while maintaining a close relationship the Operations and manufacturing Team. Lead the establishment and attainment of MCL lab goals in quality, cost, schedule, compliance and safety.
- Direct the day-to-day quality and production deliverables and initiatives to include prioritization and completion of parts through the MCL Lab. Provide effective communication across the cells, and provide leadership development and performance feedback to direct team. Obtain the necessary resources (equipment, manpower, etc.) effectively to meet long range and near term goals.
- Review staffing and training needed including performance, and career appraisals for assigned personnel as well as hiring, retaining and developing new key technical talent.
- Maintain a constant understanding of the status, to ensure resources are correctly allocated.
- Lead productivity projects to reduce cost and cycle time.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of conventional Quality related inspection, NDT, CMM, calibration and other manufacturing or metallurgical inspection process and procedures.
- Strong Experience in manage Quality Management Systems and user of MRP/ERP/ SAP systems used in production control, planning, manufacturing execution, clinic and MRB.
- Solid understanding of Aerospace Quality requirements. Ability to understand and interpret engineering technical data, such as manufacturing or part drawings, to provide guidance to cross functional teams.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as, strong presentation, planning, problem solving, organizational, project management and decision-making skills.
- Resiliency when dealing with difficult situations while divergently thinking of ways to achieve desired results. Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations regulatory requirements or work experience with government regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, AS9102, & ISO. Ability to process and communicate information using MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management, external customers, and government agencies.
- Six Sigma, or ASQ Certification a definite plus.
