Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development including: requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design & product software design, verification & validation. We integrate the control and diagnostic system design across other engine system modules and with the air vehicles and provide support throughout the complete engine product life cycle.
The Real-Time Embedded Systems discipline within CDS is responsible for the foundational software layer that abstracts the hardware and manages the resources for engine control and prognostic and health management applications for P&W engines using state of the art technologies, tools & methodologies. The Real-Time Embedded Systems discipline has an immediate opening for an engineer with strong technical and leadership skills and demonstrated capability in the following areas:
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Embedded Software team to meet program deliverables
- Participate in stand-ups with CDS Product Managers
- Present as needed to the Component Integration Product Team (CIPT)
- Work with the technical team to resolve software defects and champion root cause investigations
- Support technical, schedule, cost discussions with the Component Integration Product Team (CIPT)
- Identify key process improvements to increase efficiency
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 10+ years embedded engineering experience, or An Advanced Degree and 7+ years’ experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Ada or C & Assembly
- Experienced and comfortable with developing technical presentations
- Must demonstrate reliability, initiative, and desire to learn
- Experience with product security for embedded targets
- Solid experience in Ada, C, assembly
- Experience with VAX, VMS, GPU, VDECs
- Experience with MIL-STD-1394, MIL-STD-1553 and the Ethernet communication stack
- Experience with software configuration management and defect tracking tools and agile methods
- Experience using embedded software troubleshooting tools
- Experience in safety critical embedded software development
- Proven experience in control system software architecture, requirements, and design
- Knowledge of test hardware and benches
