Job Description:

The Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) Structures team is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Structures Manager to lead a team supporting PW’s Adaptive Engine Programs.  This person would lead the structures team in validation testing of the XA101 Fan and HPC, extending and implementing best practices for processing structural data, and drawing insights from it to benefit other adaptive programs.  Management responsibility would transition to support another Adaptive Fan or HPC as the programs evolve. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team in performing analyses and validation activities to demonstrate the durability and structural integrity of the fan and HPC modules (rotors, frames & cases, blades & vanes) as well as execute analysis themselves. 
  • Be responsible for Engineering Standard Work (ESW) execution as well as continuous improvement and coordination with other disciplines and organizations.
  • Be the voice of XA101 Fan & HPC structures team. The manager will be expected to communicate technical progress and status to various program groups, senior management, and customers and to interface with numerous internal and external customers.
  • Aide in resource planning including development and management of an outsource strategy. Mentoring, coaching and career development for direct reports is a key part for the role.
  • Assist the associate director in strategic task planning, staffing requirements, and priority management across multiple programs.
  • Drive key shifts (handshake to commit, empower for speed, courageous accountability) into our culture.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering or in a related field and 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced degree with 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience leading projects, teams, and/or programs
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
  • Experience with aerospace structures
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and technical mentoring skills
  • Gas turbine fan/compressor structural engineering experience including FE and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
  • Familiarity with P&W Structures tools and procedures.
  • Experience in Agile framework and process improvement.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Experience with executive and external customer communication.
