The PW1000G High pressure compressor (HPC) design team is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to become a Design Engineering Supervisor. A strong background and expertise in commercial and military Fan, Low- and High-Pressure Compressors design is desired. If you have relevant design engineering background or experience in these areas and possess the skills and motivation to bring new ideas into practice, we would like to like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a group of design engineers, handling task assignments, employee performance and results for the group and support the PW1000G HPC Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) in task planning, coordinating resources and requirements, and communication with the program office and chief engineer.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to design associates to advance their proficiency and lead the team in the resolution of technical problems within program schedule milestones. Lead compressor part and module designs or re-designs to achieve required improvements and use best practices for assessment and defining “Right-size Analysis” through risk-based decision-making process.
- Proactively develop mechanical arrangements that result in products and components that are low cost and competitively superior within program schedule milestones.
- Lead root cause investigations and ensure robust product and process corrective actions are implemented as well as maintain awareness of emerging trends in mechanical design processes and product technologies to steer the team in the execution of a world class design.
- Collaboration with multi-disciplinary Integrated Product Teams, discipline chiefs and subject matter experts to manage the discipline review process and ensure readiness for product reviews to ensure first time design quality.
- Communicate with team leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule and metrics as well as support development of Engineering Standard Work, Training and provide expertise to Mechanical Design Engineers via coaching and mentoring.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 10+ years prior relevant experience, OR
- Advanced Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering in a related field with 7+ years’ experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualification:
- Candidates must have exceptional problem solving and communication skills. Significant interaction with internal and external customers is expected. Communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess.
- 10 years of Mechanical Design engineering experience with proficiency in Teamcenter, Unigraphics, Ansys, and classical methods of analysis.
- Automated design optimization skills
- Candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a broad understanding of hardware, blueprints, and manufacturing methods.
- Candidate must have proven leadership skills, excellent judgment, professional maturity, ability to craft clear communication, and develop interpersonal meaningful relationships.
