Job Description
We at Pratt & Whitney (P&W) are expanding our presence in India! We are launching a new center focused on Engineering
The Development Operations Instrumentation Data Validity Group supports the development and validation of turbine engines and sub-component rigs. We work with our development customers, engaging directly as liaison with data analysts to review acquired sensor data following all test periods. This includes summarizing sensor data, tracking mortality, identifying suspect channels, defining areas for improvement, and recommending immediate troubleshooting.
Responsibilities of this position include:
• Review performance, structural and advanced measurement sensor data integrity for development rig and engine tests.
• Interface with instrumentation requestors, performance and structural data analysts, test engineers and other validation customers to verify data integrity and define measurement uncertainty.
• Develop automated tools to perform near-real-time analysis and reporting of time-domain and frequency-domain sensor responses and sensor health status.
• Data-mine historical turbine engine and rig test data to identify data trends.
• Track mortality of sensor, lead-wire, signal conditioning and data acquisition systems.
• Recommend continuous improvement opportunities as identified through mortality tracking and engine teardown learning.
Experience/Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of related experience OR advanced degree with 7+ years of related experience with instrumentation, sensor data analysis, or turbine engine testing.
- BS (or) MS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Computer Science.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with an experience on pressure, temperature, strain, vibration and advanced sensors.
- Experience in development of gas turbine engines, sensor data analysis in both the time and spectral domain.
- Proficiency with Python, HTML, Matlab or another programming language.
- Proficiency with MS Office software, including Excel Macros.
- Excellent organization, communication and project management skills.
- Candidate must also possess good interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
