Job Description:

Pratt & Whitney is seeking impact dynamics methods and structural engineer in our engineering methods team at the Pratt & Whitney India Engineering Center (IEC) in Bengaluru India.  The role will span working with multi-disciplinary organizations including system level, module level and component level across the product life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of system level LSDYNA modeling and analyses in support of commercial aircraft gas turbine engine programs. 
  • Prescribe engine system design requirements to help assure engine products meet customer and certification requirements for ultimate conditions such as blade-off. 
  • Develop sub-component, component and full engine models and perform the analysis for various impact conditions.
  • Work with Design/Structure Integration, Engine Programs, and Module Centers to assure engine dynamics and ultimate condition requirements are understood and properly implemented.
  • Support the development of engine dynamics, loads methodology and process improvements that enhance product quality, productivity improvements and reduce product cost.
  • Represent the results with physics-based understanding in formal design reviews with internal customers, airframe, and/or government customers/regulators.
  • Prepare, maintain, or update documentation of methods and tools
  • Exhibit the ownership for the defined milestones in terms of schedules & quality of deliverables

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (with 9+ years of experience) or Advanced degree (with 8+ years of experience) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Experience with CAD/CAE Systems (e.g. NX, LSDYNA, Ansys, Hypermesh, Teamcenter)
  • Finite Element Modeling and Analysis (Static & Dynamics, Forced response, Non-linear transient) experience.
  • Good communication skills and working as a team player
  • Possesses excellent judgement and professional maturity
  • Strong learner and provides creative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in LS-Dyna Modeling and Analysis.
  • Experience in aircraft gas turbine engine and aircraft loads, structural analysis, rotor dynamics, transient and steady state loads/vibration analysis.
  • Ability to interface with customers (internal & external).
  • Systems level analyst – consider effects/interactions of all modules & components.
  • Engine test, instrumentation, data reduction and model calibration experience (strain gages, accelerometers).
