Job Summary:

Hot Section Engineering (HSE) is seeking a Senior Structures Engineer (P3) to join the Advanced Engine Programs-Exhaust (AEP-E) Structures team. This position will provide opportunities to apply your engineering acumen and leadership skills, as well as bring your creativity to bear in different phases of the design process. This role offers opportunities to become a future leader, with visibility throughout the leadership chain, from CIPT (Component Integrated Product Team), to PCE (Program Chief Engineer), and to external customers.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Utilize finite-element and classical methods to perform strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, fracture, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses. 

  • Participate as an active member in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements. 

  • Develop and incorporate new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor.  

  • Ability to write clear substantiation documentation, as well as to create and provide impactful, persuasive technical presentations to internal and external customers. 

  • Develop and sustain a healthy work relationship based on mutual trust with peers, internal and external customers where significant interaction is expected. 

  • Assist on the technical development of peers. 

  • Manage several tasks and changes in priorities by utilizing project management skills. 

  • Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • BS in Engineering.

  • 5+ years of engineering experience or 3+ years with an advanced degree. 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Experience performing structural analysis with finite-element software; ANSYS Mechanical APDL/Workbench, NX Simcenter, or Abaqus. 

  • Experience with jet engines. 

  • Experience working in the aerospace industry. 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude to understand the interactions of complex assemblies. 

  • Active US Government Security Clearance.
