RTX Research Center (RTRC)
The Technology & Global Engineering (T&GE) organization is comprised of the global engineering function, several focused centers of expertise, and our advanced Research & Development Facility – the Research Center. By combining a passion for science with precision engineering, we create smart, sustainable solutions that prove we can do the big things the right way.
The Dynamics, Controls, and Autonomy team at RTRC supports dynamical system analysis and modeling, control system analysis and design, and autonomous systems research for all RTX business units, including both development of novel solutions for future products and solving the toughest problems with current products. In parallel, we are working with government customers on more broadly applicable technology.
Primary Responsibilities:
The 2024 Co-Op will be responsible for one or more of the following activities:
- Testing of a high-frequency flow actuator based on piezoelectric elements
- Experiment design in support of the testing
- Reporting and documentation
Candidates should have a wide understanding of engineering principles and hands on experience working with laboratory equipment. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on innovation and possess a variety of skills including:
- Experience with experimental characterization of piezoelectric actuators, including instrumentation, experiment design and test stand development, signal processing, and data analysis
- Experience with actuator design incorporating piezoelectric elements and driving circuit dynamics
- Experience with piezo-based transducer models and associated structural integration
- Experience with flow analysis for valve design
- Presentation, planning, problem solving, organizational, project management, and decision-making skills
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master's degree or Ph.D. degree program or those who have completed their Bachelor's degree AND have been accepted into a graduate program in the field of Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering or related technical field.
