Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney is the world leader in sustainable jet engines with our Geared Turbo Fan engine that is setting records for reductions in fuel consumption, noise, and nitrous oxide emissions. Join our organization as Specialist, Central EH&S Sustainability Generalist where you will be on the forefront of bringing our company to the next level of sustainable manufacturing, green factories, and waste elimination. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support execution of a global sustainability strategy across the organization in coordination with manufacturing, engineering, and other stakeholders. Work with key stakeholders to report and influence the business to drive improved metrics across sustainability. Coordinate and collaborate with site EH&S professionals and other functions globally to meet Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) targets.
  • Assist with identifying and implementing projects that utilize renewable energy and water saving technologies to reduce the GHG footprint and water consumption of the organization. Exhaust all low cost/no cost solutions to minimize environmental impacts. Coordinate cross-functionally and with sites to develop a Sustainability Toolbox. Assist with monthly metric rollup, quality review and final reporting. Support the sustainable focals program to ensure ownership on all levels.
  • Promote a culture of relentless waste elimination through product reduction, product replacement, process improvements, waste vendor evaluations, and technology levering lean manufacturing principles. Participate in the cultural transformation of our connected sustainable factories through shared collaboration, identify best practices, and encourage and facilitate knowledge transfer.
  • Be actively on the forefront of our customers goals, new EH&S legislation, and new sustainable technologies. Develop and incorporate policies and practices into P&W operations that preserve natural resources, conserve energy, eliminate waste and emissions and lessen the overall environmental impact.
  • Work closely with sites on a global level regarding activities and projects necessary to attain environmental goals. Work collaboratively with the parent organization, RTX, to ensure alignment and direction of various programs and initiatives. A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate him/herself and others through both influence and direct reporting; a natural bias for action and ability to deal with ambiguity. Strong leadership, organization, and project management skills. Able to perform/lead a variety of tasks, planned and unplanned, with an exceptionally high level of quality to meet target dates.
  • Bias towards a hands-on approach; ability to operate in a matrixed corporate and manufacturing environment; comfortable engaging across the organization, from front-line to executive leadership; ability to use influence to drive results. Ability to guide strategy development, influence others, and execute on that strategy. Able to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment by facilitating one-company collaboration among P&W major business units. Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite products required to deliver data analysis, PowerPoint presentations for executive councils, Performance Reports, and monthly report to president etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field and 5+ years of experience required, or Master’s Degree and 3+ years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Travel: 20%

  • Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
