Our strategic unit with Collins, Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS), provides advanced information management systems, products and services that enable the connected aviation ecosystem by bringing together Collins’ unique breadth of aviation products with our smart digital solutions to help us enhance every aspect of the end-to-end travel experience. The Airport Business Unit works across the Airport’s solutions space, covering passenger handling, through to aircraft scheduling. You will help the team define innovative solutions combining Collins’ products with third party products, to deliver on-premises and cloud-based solutions.
Working in a highly hybrid collaborative environment that fosters employee engagement and teamwork, the Solutions Architect will work across the Product Line Managers, define technical solution architecture to enable product growth matching the Airports market needs.
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support our aviation communication development needs. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for leading small software teams in developing the software architecture and development plans, performing project estimations, troubleshooting, interfacing with other software teams as well as the systems design and test teams, and integrating other teams’ work. YOU will play a pivotal role in this high growth and high visibility area of the Collins Aerospace company.
What YOU will do:

Take high level business requirements, deriving constituent parts and identifying latest technologies to address the requirement.

Working with the software developers plan, design and review the construction of APIs, providing direction and guidance that ensure compliance with standards and requirements.
-
Develop business, application, systems, data, services, and solution architectures.
-
Design and maintain target technical architecture for the Airports business unit’s portfolio of products and services.
-
Devise technical product roadmaps enabling migration from the current state to the targeted future state.
-
Fulfilling the role of technical liaison between Global Product Management (GPM), the Airports Business Unit, and the Engineering team.
-
Facilitates the move to Data Centric solutions.
-
Use deep knowledge of cloud capabilities and platforms, taking advantage of cloud service providers (e.g. serverless architectures) in designing and implementing contemporary architectural solutions.

Satisfying all applicable cybersecurity considerations.

Participation in, and influencing of, Industry bodies and standards groups to align with Collins interests.

Education & Experience:

Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
Qualifications you must have:

Holds one or more Cloud architect certifications (such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Azure Architect Design)

Demonstrated development across contemporary application architectures, cloud computing, IT infrastructure, networks, IT governance and IT security.

Experienced in Communicating technical concepts and designs using Enterprise Architect, Visio, and other contemporary tools.
Skills we value:

Experience with cloud based automation technologies such as AWS Cloud Development Kit, CloudFormation, and TerraForm.

Experience with Agile, DevSecOps, and other SDLC methodologies
-
Experience with architecting security designs in compliance with security regulations

Experience with a wide range of software architectures, platforms and tools including Service Oriented Architecture, Software as a Service (SAAS), Web Services, Java, Portal technology, JavaScript, HTML, Python, etc.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 236,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
