Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for experienced engineering roles in our Business & Regional Avionics Flight Management Applications department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teams are composed of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of software-only products. This is an onsite position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Relocation assistance may be available.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Will be involved in software development tasks, including design, implementation plans, requirements, software code, integration testing and verification.
  • Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system high level and low level requirements, and makes recommendations for the generation of verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
  • Will work in a cross-functional agile team, participating in technical discussions and collaborating with other engineers on the team to find optimal solutions.
  • Is able to work independently with limited supervision and is able to influence others within the work area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.
  • Is able to quickly develop technical knowledge and skills and establish as a productive professional contributor.
  • May lead a cross-functional team daily and coordinating regularly with engineering and project management to ensure success of the product and program
  • May include managing aspects of quality, schedule, and scope while navigating through the various team dynamics
  • May manage work-processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for small or moderately complex projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field OR in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required.  
  • Must have experience with full life cycle software engineering processes
  • Must have project management or some experience leading teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace industry experience is preferred
  • DO-178 or similar certification based development experience is preferred
  • AGILE development experience is preferred
