WHAT TO EXPECT



An exciting senior leadership opportunity as part of the continued development of JLR’s xHEV propulsion systems. This role will lead delivery of the Powertrain Systems Engineering (PTSE) hardware into all future JLR vehicle architectures and programmes. These being Exhaust systems, Fuel Systems, Air Intake Systems, Enclosures and Sensors.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the xHEV PTSE Commodity teams through the system strategy and design and then subsequent engineering, sourcing and delivery of components for all vehicle programs on time, to quality and on cost.  You will need to build, develop and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers and senior stakeholders to ensure robust delivery against the Vehicle Programme Milestones & Gateways.

 

You will be responsible for the end to end quality of all Components and Systems in the Commodities, embedding the Engineering Quality tools & processes into the teams way of working and ensuring all Quality issues arising in production or in the field are rectified quickly.

 

The role involves managing teams based in the UK with remote teams based in ODEC / outside UK.

 

THE ROLE



Key Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for the Commodity Teams that will design, engineer and deliver the Powertrain Hardware system into an Architecture / Vehicle Programme meeting all defined targets and attributes
  • Lead the Commodity teams through the engineering, sourcing and delivery of components for vehicle programs on time, to quality and cost
  • Managing the Commodity budgets to 5% margin
  • Build, develop and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers and senior stakeholders to ensure delivery against Programme Milestones & Gateways
  • Embedding the Engineering Quality tools & processes into the teams way of working
  • Responsible for the end to end Quality of all Components and Systems in the Commodities ensuring all issues arising in production or in the field are rectified quickly
  • Lead the Engineering teams & Delivery team based in the UK with remote teams based in ODEC / outside UK

 

Key Performance Indicators

 

  • Powertrain Hardware system and commodity delivery for ICE & PHEVs on Time to Cost & Quality
  • Managing the Commodity systems budgets to 5% margin
  • Leading the Commodity Cost Optimisation commitments
  • Delivery & Improvement of Commodity Quality targets for the Powertrain Hardware systems in line with the Corporate targets

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

  • Strong engineering technical background and previous experience in delivering technical products through a team, utilising strong people management skills
  • Proven ability to build and manage multiple internal and external relationships in complex stakeholder environments
  • In depth knowledge and adoption of Engineering Quality tools & process and CCDS
  • Previous experience of project management
  • Previous experience of budget and target management
  • Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

  • Experience of module team delivery in Manufacturing
  • Experience of Agile product delivery, in particular working in a Domains, Groups or Squads
  • Experience in people development and team management
  • Experience in strategy development and deployment
