The first primary responsibility for this position will be leading the Precision Coat Project for the site. The person selected will have responsibilities of validating the machine, programming new assemblies, and incorporating new equipment into the line. They will also need to develop standard work for programming, debugging, and preventative maintenance of the equipment. Upon completion of the Precision Coat project, this person will be assigned to project(s) with similar priority and importance to improve the capability of this facility to be the best manufacturing facility in the world.
This role will be performed onsite at our Collins location in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Primary Responsibilities:
The person hired for this role will be a key resource for guidance and actions in the following areas:

Plan sequence of operations and documents manufacturing standard work and routings.

Provide analytical input on documents or operational procedures in the areas of cost control, productivity, cost reduction, inventory, and production schedule/record systems.

Plan the allocation of resources, materials and personnel to establish maximum utilization of equipment (e.g. station loading/line balancing & staffing plans).

Conduct research to evaluate potential solutions related to changes in equipment design, procedures, manpower, personnel, floor layouts, or training to ensure the most efficient sequence of operations and work flow.

Conduct research on new processes, methods, and equipment and make recommendations for acquisitions and changes to achieve continuous improvement in all areas of the factory.

Prepare project cost estimates and cost benefit analysis to validate cost requirements/targets against pertinent business plan(s) and program expectations.

Perform research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of electronic or electro-mechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems.

Develop/maintain layout of production floor space to establish maximum utilization of equipment and resources.

Establish quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, or minimize costs.

Perform and direct others in sophisticated economic analysis and the proactive achievement of economic goals for complex systems and products under development.

Develop tools or equipment to improve the manufacturing process or address safety concerns.

Review products and processes for producibility concerns and work with design engineering to incorporate design changes to improve manufacturability.

May have very minimal travel requirements as needed, less than 5%
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
-
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
