Collins Aerospace, Generator and Emergency Power Test Equipment, is seeking an Electrical Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for developing test equipment and test setups for the development and production of aircraft power generation components. The Test Equipment group supports both test facilities and programs through the entire life cycle of development to production.  This is a job that always has a new challenge as Collins Aerospace continues to invent the future of aircraft electric power systems.

The candidate must be an analytical thinker and be adept at the design, build, and checkout of test setups.  The candidate must have experience working with instrumentation, data recording, and design of electrical systems and harnesses.  This position will function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and will support our generator test labs and wind tunnels through the development of new Test Equipment and the support of Production Test Equipment.  The ideal candidate will be a creative member of the team who will assist in developing the vision for upgrading our test equipment to the latest technology. 

Onsite:

  • Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work onsite. This position is eligible for relocation.

This position is eligible for a referral bonus.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate new product test specifications and determine equipment requirements to meet testing needs.
  • Analyze requirements for unit testing interfaces and electrical circuits.
  • Design harnessing for test equipment and test setups.
  • Incorporate instrumentation into test setups including flows, pressures, load, torque, airspeed, vibration, and temperature.
  • Design and coordinate the build, checkout, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems with the hourly workforce.
  • Create electrical schematics to document designs.
  • Create project estimates and work within a budget for time and cost.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required.
  • 5+ years in an electrical engineering position is required.
  • 2+ years of electrical design and integration experience is required.
    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with test operators to modify and set up test equipment.
  • Prepare and present analysis, reports, test results, and other contract deliverables related to analyses performed.
  • Ability to work on large and small projects.
  • Hands-on experience.
  • Ability to understand or support LabView software development.
  • Ability to travel as needed – 5%.
