We are looking to add a talented and forward-thinking Senior Test Support Engineer to our Electronic Test Engineering (ETE) Sustainment team in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico. This position is for a seasoned professional who will be responsible for supporting automated production test equipment used for the testing of complex electronic aerospace control products. Candidates will be part of a small team responsible for providing technical support and oversight of mainly electronic test systems running in our Santa Isabel manufacturing site. This site also has an electromechanical branch that may require support periodically. This assignment has the potential to evolve into one that could include software design of automated software used for new equipment as the candidate’s experience level increases.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engineering support for electronic end-item test, focusing on the test execution and other software aspects of automated test stands used for Acceptance and Environmental testing.
  • Apply hands-on troubleshooting/problem solving skills and analytical thinking to determine root cause and corrective action of electronic production test failures.
  • Interpret test requirements that define both hardware I/O and embedded software details of the unit under test, as well as the test procedure and measurement boundaries used to determine successful test results.
  • Develop software using graphical and/or text-based programming languages (Such as: HP Basic, UNIX, Linux, C#, NI LabView, Agilent VEE, Allen Bradley-RS Logic500, ODACS)
  • Build and maintain computer systems used in test platforms, including special interface hardware and software drivers.
  • Will report functionally to ETE Sustainment management located in Rockford, IL while receiving on-site direction from Puerto Rico Test Support management.
  • Assist with Ethernet port assignment and networking to local and remote servers for data storage needs.
  • Manage documentation of rig modifications into work packages per defined work instructions.
  • Strong focus on maintaining internal and external customer satisfaction and quality.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional team members, as well as internal & external customers.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Software experience using text based and/or graphical programming languages (C, Agilent, VEE, Basic, NI LabView)
  • Experience with any of the following IEEE-488, VME, PCI, and VXI instrumentation under PC control
  • Hardware/software integration experience - understanding of electronic circuits design and analysis
  • Familiarity with standard communications busses/protocols such as EAI (Enterprise application integration)- RS232/422/485, IEEE1394, MS1553B, Ethernet, CAN Bus
