Job Summary:

The Test Systems Product Team (TSPT) Directorate is a multi-discipline organization responsible for developing test solutions for all Raytheon products. We are hands-on, designing with the latest technology and tools, and integrate state of the art test solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world.  TSPT products are located in engineering labs, in the field, and in production environments utilized for weapon system product verification, qualification, test data analysis, and production test solution development. TSPT has job opportunities across all phases of the engineering lifecycle, including demonstrations, early engineering tests, design verification tests, production, and sustainment.

We are currently seeking a test equipment design engineer to join the Sensors Test Solutions Team.  This is an excellent position for a test equipment engineer who has a background in digital test, analog test, RF test, or power supply test and a desire to apply those skills to combined hardware/software test solutions.   The primary responsibilities will be the development and implementation of test capabilities leveraging a strong working knowledge of test equipment hardware and software technologies. 

You will be joining a diverse project team for the design and development of test equipment and test solutions for testing radar, sonar, communication, missile, combat control systems, subsystems and components for various programs.  These products can contain Analog, RF, Microwave, Acoustic, High Power, and Digital Electronic technology and can also have Software (embedded, firmware, Signal Processing, VHDL, etc.). Test Development Engineers are involved from the beginning of product design as a concurrent engineering effort, continuing into supporting engineering design verification testing, production test and final system level verification and sell-off; includes in-plant or field testing.

 

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Develop test hardware, software, and/or firmware through its development cycle, from requirements definition through deployment at manufacturing or customer facilities. These test capabilities may span disciplines (Power, RF, Analog, Digital) and domains (hardware, software, firmware).

  • Work with Hardware Design and Operations teams to ensure the test equipment required for production meets standards for manufacturing.

  • Actively identify test readiness issues and optimizations through development lifecycle.

  • Guide mechanical engineering and/or suppliers through test adapter design activities, with limited support from management.

  • Lead a small team to meet established project budget, schedule, and performance commitments

  • Engage in personal technical growth and encourage technical growth in peers and junior engineers.

  • Prepare and clearly present your work product to at status meetings.

  • Support Manufacturing operations, including on-site troubleshooting and debugging, both independently and in collaboration with design engineering teams.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 3 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience in engineering design and development, including test equipment design and/or development

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) is preferred

  • Experience working as a member of a team

  • Experience with National Instruments’ TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, and/or LabVIEW

  • Experience with any one of the following: Digital, Analog, RF, and/or Power Supply test hardware and/or software design.

  • Experience with VXI / VME / MXI / PXI / CompactPCI application development

  • Experience with commercial test and measurement equipment

  • VHDL and embedded system design knowledge

  • Software applications / programming skills

  • Understanding of engineering processes: CMMI, 6 sigma
