A Calibration Physical Dimension Technician is responsible for performing calibration, verification, and maintenance activities on a variety of dimensional measurement instruments and equipment. This role ensures the accuracy and reliability of measurement tools, allowing for precise and consistent measurements in various manufacturing and quality control processes. The technician works closely with engineers, quality control personnel, and production teams to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.

This role will be performed onsite at our Collins location in Melbourne, FL.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Calibration and Verification: Perform calibration and verification of dimensional measurement instruments and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), optical comparators, and other metrology tools. Follow established procedures and standards to ensure accurate measurement results.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance activities on calibration equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of worn or damaged components. Adhere to maintenance schedules and keep records of maintenance performed.

  • Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date calibration records, equipment logs, and related documentation. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality management system (QMS) standards. Generate calibration certificates and reports as needed.

  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Identify and troubleshoot issues with measurement instruments and equipment. Perform minor repairs or coordinate with external service providers for more complex repairs. Document and communicate equipment malfunctions and repairs to relevant stakeholders.

  • Compliance and Standards: Stay updated on relevant standards, regulations, and industry best practices related to dimensional metrology and calibration. Ensure compliance with applicable standards, such as ISO 9001 or ISO/IEC 17025, and participate in internal and external audits.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with engineers, quality control personnel, and production teams to understand calibration requirements and provide technical support. Communicate calibration results, equipment limitations, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in initiatives to enhance calibration procedures, equipment performance, and overall efficiency. Propose and implement innovative solutions to optimize calibration activities.

  • Training and Knowledge Sharing: Provide training and guidance to junior technicians or colleagues on calibration techniques, measurement methods, and equipment operation. Share expertise and knowledge with team members to improve overall competency

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

  • May have military calibration experience (PMEL) to qualify

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Physical dimension experience
