The CV-22 SSA Senior Systems Engineer will join our Systems Engineering team based in Indianapolis, IN, supporting the CV-22 aircraft and Flight Test community located at Hurlburt Field, FL to support systems engineering management, analysis, and test of current and emerging CV-22 integrated system requirements.  The candidate will work closely and consult with military pilots, flight engineers, maintainers, flight test personnel, requirements officers, logistics managers, and other contractors to develop report and provide solutions to mission system problems and conduct system/software integration and testing in laboratory and aircraft environments. The candidate will need the ability to support, advise, and manage expectations for multiple internal and external CV-22 customers from the user to program level under the guidance of the Hurlburt CV-22 SSA Lead Systems Engineer.  This role will serve Raytheon as on-site engineering liaison and consultant at CV-22 operational, maintenance, and flight test squadrons (Hurlburt Field, Ft. Walton Beach, FL) as well as other CV-22 Squadrons worldwide, reporting to the V-22 Software Support Activity (SSA) (Indianapolis, IN).  The candidate will also interface with and manage issues presented to SSA systems engineers and functional area IPTs.

Responsibilities to anticipate:

  • Ability to work independently to plan and coordinate CV-22 problem identification and documentation, CV-22 system and sub-system problem analysis and resolution, and avionics flight test to include necessary assets, modifications, and installations.
  • Support sustainment, developmental engineering, and logistics support focused on subsystems and software with a structure designed to provide support to all CV-22 sites.
  • Development and execution of CV-22 flight, flight test, and data analysis plans from conceptualization through evaluation and reporting.
  • Working directly with the customer with no supervision to ensure solutions are consistent with organization and customer objectives.
  • Analyze processes and provide process improvement initiatives from the user level to the program level coordinating within the entire CV-22 enterprise.
  • Manage an IPT as required and liaison to CV-22 warfighters to provide immediate investigation and analysis on or off aircraft in order to meet performance requirements.
  • Interface and provide recommendations to the customer real time to assess needs, and level of urgency, as well as interface with customer and company representative to develop and implement solutions.

Basic qualifications: 

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s and a minimum of five years prior relevant experience, or an Advance Degree in a related field and a minimum of (insert years based on job level) years’ experience.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Technical leadership and implementation experience with avionics life cycle (requirements, design, development, test, support and obsolescence management)
  • Strong, independent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Understanding of military operational and flight test operations, maintenance procedures and practices, aircrew work loading, and crew systems and maintenance design is a must.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of years of prior AFSOC CV-22 experience, or 8 years equivalent combination of AFSOC CV-22 experience, education, and training may substitute for the degree.

Preferred qualifications:

Knowledge of USAF, Navy, or commercial aviation most desirable in the areas of avionics integration, logistics support, and tactical use of mission systems

CV-22 Maintenance/Logistic Experience.
