Are you interested in working with Space Program? We’re looking for an experienced Software Quality Engineering professional to work with others to achieve excellence in design and efficient lifecycle execution. This position is responsible for working closely with software design engineering teams in Mission Systems within the Space Systems portfolio to provide quality-focused technical and process oversight of product developments throughout their lifecycle. As a Mission Systems Development Quality & Integrity (DQI) team member, you will be a program quality focal lead, ensuring software designs meet quality expectations, as well as customer, regulatory, and other requirements, and influence the adoption of engineering best practices to identify and eliminate defects before delivery. 

 

This role will required to work in a collaborative onsite environment.

What YOU will do: 

  • Establish rapport across the organization, including leadership, engineering teams, shared service teams, and customers. 

  • Communicate masterfully both verbally and in writing. 

  • Assist with engineering project planning activities to ensure plans account for regulatory and customer requirements and incorporates best practices and lessons learned. 

  • Utilize knowledge of CMMI, AS9100, AS9115,  AS9145, and NASA quality standards. 

  • Assess proactively the health of software projects using objective measurements and assessments. 

  • Review software products and processes for compliance to process  requirements, software directives and reviews work practices for adequacy.

  • Advise project teams and leadership of software design quality trends and systemic issues, using quality methods and tools to investigate, determine root cause, and recommend corrective actions to deliver high quality designs.

  • You will develop a design quality and assurance engagement strategy & plan and leading the assigned DQI team to ensure effective and efficient support to the engineering project(s) 

 

Education & Experience: 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

 

Qualifications you must have: 

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required 

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 

  • Experience conducting technical research and interpreting standards for application (e. g. NASA, ASE, ISO, IEEE, DoD, DFARs, etc.) 

  • Experience with Agile and/or DevOps software development 

 

Skills we value: 

  • Experience in a quality role of any kind is desirable. 

  • A degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is preferred . 

  • Software engineering experience on NASA or DO-178 certifiable design & development project(s), including experience from planning through verification/validation.
