The Role
This Senior Embedded Test Engineer (SDET) position will be expected to perform test planning, test automation design, test automation development and test execution tasks as well as help mentor junior QA automation team members.  Additionally, our Test Engineers are expected to make suggestions to streamline our QA processes and practices and debug complex issues.

What You’ll Do

  • Creation and execution of automated tests of Omnitracs next generation IoT products
  • Reproduce and clearly document defects
  • Participate in root-cause analysis of critical defects
  • Help guide the team’s testing methodologies
  • Ensure best possible test coverage from automation and manual test suites
  • Identifies risks and issues proactively and drives creative solutions
  • Analyzes system errors and suggest corrective measures
  • Validate deployments to test environments and production environments
  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to maintain understanding of the product and underlying technology
  • Other QA duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring

  • Essential Qualifications
    • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
    • 3-4 years of experience in Quality Engineering /Assurance of Embedded Systems with a focus on test automation design and development.
    • Experience with embedded Linux development and testing
    • Experience in automation – development and testing of automation scripts
    • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and test frameworks such as Pytest
    • Experience with Jira, GitHub, Confluence or similar tool chains for Agile development, test case management, source control, and documentation.
    • Solid understanding of project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, analysis & design, development, testing, and deployment
    • An organized individual who is very detail oriented and can develop plans necessary for testing and quality monitoring.
    • Strong knowledge in TDD/CI/CD  
    • An independent worker who can take the initiative to develop test methods, automation methods
    • A team player that works hard, admits his/her strengths and weaknesses, and has the flexibility to improve by learning new things
    • Excellent communication skills, which include active listening and the ability to present complex ideas in concise written and verbal descriptions which are easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bonus Qualifications
    • Experience with large scale telematics and/or internet of things experience
    • Understanding of CAN (Control Area Network), Vehicle protocols like J1939, OBD II
    • Experience with reporting and visualization tools for the purpose of beta and production monitoring
    • ISTQB Test certification
