Collins Aerospace in Fairfield, CA, is seeking an experienced aerospace Quality Engineering professional. This position requires a broad understanding of aerospace manufacturing methods, inspection techniques, continuous improvement methods, and quality management practices. The person in this role will work independently to establish and meet goals for their specific area of responsibility while also providing guidance to less experienced quality engineers. They may be responsible for ensuring the quality of one or more product lines, such as CAD, PAD, or Linear. Additionally, this individual will serve as a mentor to other team members and provide support as needed.

This position will work onsite in Fairfield, CA.

What You'll Do:

  • Work with the Quality Engineering Manager to set annual goals and objectives for one or more of product lines.
  • Work with Design Engineering on new product design and development, including the setting of specifications and Design for Quality, Design for Manufacturability, et cetera.
  • Identify and manage risk in product development, primarily utilizing and driving Advanced Product Quality Planning core elements (e.g., DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.).
  • Work with Inspection and Non-Destructive Testing to devise testing plans, methods, and equipment to ensure the reliability of the product. This collaborative team will also develop new inspection technologies and methodologies as required.
  • Ensure that projects and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives, and/or contracts.
  • Utilize Manufacturing Process Review (MPR) methods to work with Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering to improve process performance (yield, cycle time reduction, etc.).
  • Analyze and make recommendations for corrective actions of nonconformities and/or design problems for internally produced products & processes.
  • Manage processes to ensure all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management, including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.
  • Deploy Statistical Process Control as required to ensure product quality and to improve process capability.

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and a minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum 3 years of experience or in the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Aerospace Engineering experience
  • Lean, ACE, CORE, Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement experience.

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
