This position is for a Mechanical Designer/Drafter. We are looking for applicants that are able to collaborate with a team of other drafters and engineers to help create and utilize cutting edge technology and have the technical skills to solve complex problems with ingenuity and creativity. A successful applicant will have a strong background in product design skills using CREO and/or equivalent design toolset, and mechanical design skills sufficient to be able to understand and interpret mechanical drawings.
This role will be in a collaborative hybrid environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and develop complex components, systems, subsystems, and assemblies while applying Company, Industry and Contractual standards during the preparation of hardware design and documentation data
- Utilize Creo software to develop sketches, models, and working drawings
- Applies knowledge of manufacturing, tolerancing, and producibility capabilities during the design process to ensure cost effective design
- Utilize advanced understanding of the CAD and data management tools to enable completion of design tasks
- Provides validation of revision capture definition into formal design and documentation data in accordance with defined change requirements
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work relationships; have creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness
- Routinely collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams across a variety of projects and tasks
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
- Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Certification may be required for technical support roles
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Experience with mechanical design and interpret mechanical drawings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity working with PLM systems such as Wind Chill (PDM Link) and/or Teamcenter
- Associates Degree in Engineering, or related field of study; 5 years of experience performing similar tasks is preferred
- Experience with Creo software

The Re-Empower Program helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey. Over the course of the 14-week program, experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return-to-work experience. Upon completion of the program, based on performance and contributions participants will be eligible for a career at RTX.
Minimum Program Qualifications
