Overview:
Advanced EO & RF Mechanical Engineering is seeking an experienced Mechanical Lead to fill a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer position in our McKinney, TX location. This position will perform mechanical design and documentation of Antennas, RF Sensors, and supporting Electronics and Sub-systems. The candidate is expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program and functional leadership to ensure that overall design goals are met. The candidate is expected to have experience in the use of PTC Creo CAD software and have multi-year experience in electronics packaging. The candidate is also expected to be experienced in the use of GD&T for design documentation and fabrication. The candidate will be responsible for developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. The candidate will be responsible for supervising the definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, connector selection and specification, mechanical and assembly drawings, and overseeing electrical layout and the technical data package. Familiarity with CREO and drawing standards is desired. The candidate will be also responsible for meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product. The candidate will lead a team of engineers and analysts with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising latitude in choosing the technical objectives of the assignment. The position will require frequent interaction with program management and external personnel. Experience with bidding and proposals is desired. Periodic travel may be required as needed.
Required Skills:
10 or more years of experience, or 8 plus years of experience with an advanced degree in the design and manufacturing of electronics packaging for military and aerospace applications
Must possess a thorough knowledge of GD&T, ANSI drawing standards and first order analysis techniques.
Ability to travel periodically to support program's needs.
Ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field.
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
DoD Secret US security clearance is required
Desired Skills:
Fifteen (15) or more years of industry experience in the design and test of electronics packaging for
military and aerospace applications
Excellent technical background with high technical aptitude
Experience with PTC Creo CAD software
Excellent leadership skills and project management skills
Demonstrated presentation and communication skills
Deep desire to mentor earlier career engineers
Experience with bidding and proposals
Experience with environmental testing
Knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and DO-160 qualification testing in support of airworthiness certifications
Experience with the development of airworthiness plans, creation of airworthiness test procedures and
creation of associated data packages
DoD Top Secret US Security clearance
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related discipline and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience
Desired Education:
Master's degree in a STEM related discipline and a minimum of 7 years of prior relevant experience.
Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have deep knowledge of project management. Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and
ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs
or systems.
Typically requires:
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years
prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree, in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited
by local laws/regulations.
