ARINC Incorporated d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Principal Engineer, Software Engineering. This position is 100% remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Trains, instructs, and provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and build capabilities.
  • Recommends innovative design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required software needs for products/equipment.
  • Leads multiple project or product teams to ensure that the applicable products meet the customer's specification and relevant requirements.
  • Develops software configuration standards for company-wide use to ensure current and future business targets are met.
  • Trains software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards that include control modeling and model based design.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least a master’s degree or its equivalent in a Science, Technology, Mathematics, or Engineering (STEM) field of study and at least 7 years of experience as a Software Architect or related role working in software development and design. In the alternative, a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a STEM field of study and at least 10 years of progressive experience as a Software Architect or related role working in software development and design would be acceptable.
  • At least 5 years of experience with flight planning and scheduling principles, including flight routes, aircraft performance, weather, crew scheduling, and maintenance scheduling
  • At least 5 years of experience with programming languages commonly used in aviation, such as Python, Java, and C++
  • At least 3 years of experience in cloud computing technologies and service-oriented architectures
  • At least 2 years of experience working with aviation regulations and standards related to flight planning, such as FAA regulations and ICAO standard
  • Demonstrable knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and geospatial data analysis, which are commonly used in aviation for flight planning and route optimization

The salary range is $164,299 to $236,000 per year.
