Role Overview:
Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies Business, is seeking a talented Senior Principal Electrical Engineer for it's Vergennes, VT location.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Electronic circuit card assembly design/development/analysis of: analog, digital and power circuits including microprocessor, microcontrollers, DSPs, FPGAs, sensor interfaces, signal conditioning, motor controllers, linear/switching power supplies
- Analysis tasks include: power, timing, accuracy/tolerance, stability, EMI compatibility, derating, reliability, safety, and requirements traceability
- Create documentation including hardware design plans, technical requirements, functional specifications, design specifications, qualification test plans and reports
- Support current production designs including quality improvements, cost reduction, component obsolescence and failure analysis
- Evaluate and approve electronic components to meet requirements for availability, performance and cost
- Support proposal/project planning efforts and ensure execution to schedule and budget
- Evaluate failures to determine root cause and corrective actions
- Support engineering/production hardware validation/verification
- Apply knowledge of tolerance analysis, simulation, and statistical methods to improve robustness and quality of electronic designs
- Organizing and participating in electrical design reviews
- Sets objectives and guides others on execution/approach for achievement of operational results
- Acts as an internal consultant providing technical guidance on projects
- Provides leadership/mentoring and trains less experienced staff, when required, to help them diagnose and solve problems and to strengthen the electrical engineering discipline
- Improves discipline health of the electrical engineering team and ensures designs comply with requirements & standard work
- Establish standard design guidelines by circuit function
- Ensure a robust electrical development process is integrated into each program plan to establish expectations of the project teams

Basic Qualifications & Experience:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
- Support all phases of the design, qualification, and manufacturing processes
- Design practices with consideration for system level installation/performance, EMIC bonding, and grounding methods
- Analog and digital circuit design and analyses of high reliability electronics with circuit card layout per applicable industry, military, and commercial standards
- Good communication skills to support technical communications
- Work with limited written and verbal direction in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience:
- BSEE and 20+ years of experience in design and development of electronic equipment
