If you want to reach your personal goals together with other people, Manufacturing Engineering is the place for you to prosper.The department Facilities, Tooling & Equipment is responsible for the implementation of process related equipment for our plants in all car project phases, as well as in running production.Our main customers are Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Maintenance

Main tasks

  • This posting refers to the Senior PLC Software Engineer position in C-Shop.
  • Responsible for handling tasks according to the process for Facilities, Tooling & Equipment in Volvo Car Business Management System. From concept phase, RFQ, design, installation, commissioning, launch to follow up.
  • Support to other VCC plants may be required (Belgium, China, Sweden).

Responsibilities

  • Leads/participates in equipment projects (cost estimation, planning, administration, procurement, verification and handing over) for plants.
  • Performs safety, reliability, and cost analyses.
  • Responsible for execution of equipment-FMEA.
  • Supports running production with secondary problem analyses within the area of expertise.
  • Responsible for knowledge transfer to Production and Maintenance in the projects.
  • Creation/contribution to the development of instructions related to process equipment within the area of expertise.
  • Leads/participates in standardization and technical networks within the area of expertise.
  • Contributes in early project phases with specialist competence.
  • Leads automation controls, PLC and SCADA aspects of new equipment installations.
  • Supports other Equipment Engineers with electrical aspects of their projects.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer programming, computer science or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive experience with manufacturing systems, equipment installation and commissioning.
  • 3+ years of Manufacturing Tooling experience industry.
  • 3+ years’ experience of Siemens PLC programming (Siemens S7, TIA Portal).
  • Fluent in English, additional languages are a plus.
  • Solid understanding of computer programming and software development preferred.
  • Strong computer skills (MS applications).
  • Project Management skills are a plus.
  • Skills in SCADA, AutoCAD and CATIA are a plus.
  • Ability to understand basic electrical drawings and electrical theory preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electromechanical equipment, PLC and Drive Frequency systems, vision systems, and robotic equipment.
  • Experience with industrial ethernet is a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED required
