We’re currently looking for a Battery Test engineer intern to join our team in Nissan Tech Center North America (NTCNA) in Farmington Hills.

This role will be responsible for performing complex defined test plans for batteries, analyzing test performance data and documenting the test results. This is a hands-on work opportunity if you are interested in learning and grow quickly during the internship.

Job functions Include but are not limited to:

  • Operate, maintain battery test equipment like cyclers, EIS, etc. and build test plans with engineers and researchers.
  • Implement standard test plans, understand the scope of test requirements and instructions for safety.
  • Agility to design and develop new test setups required for batteries and adapt new test procedures as needed.
  • Develop electrochemical models and other battery models based on the collected data.
  • Must be able to handle multiple test plans and projects at a time.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of test procedures, results and observations.

Qualifications:

  • Safety requirements: Must be able to follow safety protocols and wear safety PPE as required for the job.
  • Job Knowledge and Skill: Familiarity and experience with handling batteries (modules and packs), DAQs and battery cycling equipment is a must. Knowledge of Lithium-ion battery aging mechanisms in different environments and comprehension of HPPC, Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), tests for batteries and analyzing data to develop EIS and ECM (equivalent circuit model) models is required. Research-oriented mindset with interest in state-of-the-art battery technologies, scientific literature and industry updates
  • 1+ years of experience in designing, performing R&D battery testing, and analyzing data
  • Education: Current enrolment into a Masters/PhD battery related program in Energy, Battery, Electrical, Chemical, Materials or Mechanical engineering or in similar fields.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Other Skills: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with keen technical insights, excellent communication and collaboration skills.
