What you will do

You will work within the battery cell design group, alongside a dynamic, international team with a broad range of experts. You will be part of a stimulating and creative workplace ensuring excellent battery cell solutions for Volvo’s next generation sustainable cars. You will play a crucial quality assurance role in an industry experiencing dynamic and innovative transformations. As a Cell Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality of our battery cell development processes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Quality Assurance and Analysis: Drive systematic FMEA processes with all cell suppliers and for in-house products. Lead root-cause analyses of development and field issues affecting cell quality using systematic problem-solving approaches.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and maintain a pipeline for ongoing enhancements in cell quality. Implement corrective actions and apply lessons learned to improve processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead collaboration on quality initiatives with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate cell quality efforts with software diagnostics, field analysis and supplier quality management teams
  • Technical Leadership: Oversee cell hardware analysis protocols. Define and break down project-specific quality requirements. Collaborate with design and production engineers to ensure product quality. Coach and mentor engineers on industry quality standards and best practices.
  • Innovation and Adaptability: Stay current with emerging technologies and quality methodologies in battery cell development. Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance quality processes.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize advanced analytics to identify trends and potential quality issues. Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for cell quality.

What you will bring

We are looking for a collaborative team member, who shares our passion for evolving battery cell technologies, automotive engineering, and sustainability. Within this strategically important technology area, you can work independently, while also collaborating with teams across Volvo Cars battery department and beyond. For us, it is important that you are eager to mentor team members & share knowledge and ideas on cell quality, methods and tools to ensure we are leading in sustainable energy transformation.

Requirements for this role would be:
• Master Degree within Mechanical/Electrical engineering or other relevant fields
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as quality engineer preferable at vehicle OEM/Battery Supplier/Cell Supplier
• Strong knowledge in Lean and 6 Sigma methodology, e.g. DMAIC/8D, SPC, PPAP & APQP.
• Knowledge in quality, risk assessments and FMA/FMEA
• Experience or knowledge about development and cell productions is meritorious
