Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and/or design and support systems, processes, methods and procedures for calibrating Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE) based on analysis of measurement problems, accuracy and precision requirements;
• Provide technical support to Metrology lab technicians, MSE Rig Design and Facilities groups;
• Create, revise instrumentation specifications as required;
• Analyze calibration standards and processes using statistics;
• Evaluate new calibration methods and procedures;
• Research calibration requirements in order to recommend calibration standards;
• Monitor compliance with laboratory and/or departmental quality systems;
• Develop software (Fluke, Met-Cal, NI LabView and Microsoft Excel) to assist in calibration laboratory and/or departmental processes;
• Perform laboratory and/or departmental administration duties
• Participate in education or training: Develop training plans and materials, conduct training and maintain professional competency
• The position requires a person with initiative, resourcefulness and teamwork traits and must have good written and oral communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelors degree preferably in electrical/mechanical engineering or similar program such as military calibration training.
• 5 years or more experience with precision standard instrumentation and measurement techniques
• Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental electrical, electronic, mechanical and physical principles
• High level of skill with personal computers including programming experience using LabView and Excel VBA.
• A high level of skill using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint is required
